The WPT North American Poker Championship
It came down to Poker Pro Gavin Smith and amatuer Glen Witmer at the Final table. Glen won a big coinflip with AK against Gavin Smiths 55 to secure the win. The hand was the 49th hand the two played headsup and it was Gavin Smith who went all-in after a limp-raise from the button. Witmer holding Big-slick had no problem calling and by the turn he had 13 outs as the board lay: Q-J-2-J, he spiked an ace on the river to secure his first major win in a poker tournament.
Witmer qualified for this WPT event by winning a $170 satellite at the Fallsview Casino. Pretty nice return if you ask me.
Here is a list of the winners:
| 1 | Glen Witmer | $1,224,852 |
| 2 | Gavin Smith | $612,427 |
| 3 | Kathy Liebert | $319,337 |
| 4 | Ryan Fisler | $262,469 |
| 5 | Marc Karam | $196,851 |
| 6 | James Trenholm | $153,107 |
| 7 | Matt Matros | $109.362 |
| 8 | Sam Greenwood | $87.490 |
| 9 | Dominic Staniscia | $69.992 |
| 10 | Erik Seidel | $56.868 |
