Re: The Crew Points Battles

a year ago at 7:30 am

Hello all,

first of all I would like to clarify one misunderstanding and myth that most might have regarding the Points Battles: They are not the next full CrewCup, but rather a temporary solution for now until the legal situation and the consequences after Black Friday have settled down a bit. As of now, it is not possible nor reasonable to plan a major promotion that lasts half a year, when you don't even know what will happen to online poker in the US and worldwide within the next few weeks.

Not only have the 3 biggest US friendly sites and networks ceased to exist within the US market, two of them have not paid out player funds either and it is not clear when this will be the case. The remaining networks that still accept players from the US are by far more considerate and careful now and won't commit to any long term promotion, most of them calculate from month to month or by quarter year.

But not only the US is facing legal trouble, in Europe we have France, Italy and Estonia that already regulate online gambling and Spain + the United Kingdom will be next. Online poker in general has been shaken up within the last 4 months and this wasn't the end yet, the full extent and shockwave is not visible yet.

This is not leaving much of a choice though and the current format of the monthly battles can only be a temporary solution, rest assured that we are working on another full CrewCup but you may understand that within the current development this is not possible. The monthly leagues similar to the previous WarmUp some time ago should give the Crews that are still interested to compete against others the possibility to practice their teamplay strategies and shorten the waiting time until the next CrewCup.

What I find amazing at times is the fact that some people think Pokerspace owes them something. That is partly correct because we will do what we think is in the best interest of the site to keep existing promotions running and still provide various offers to our members. But this always also depends on the activity of you as players, because otherwise it will be impossible to find potential interested poker sites to still sponsor these promotions.

We currently offer 4 rake races on 4 different poker sites and networks as of August 2011, yet with thousands of members the participation so far is rather low. Even though CarbonPoker had a money-tree promotion a while ago, money doesn't really grow on trees and those are rather lemons that you can use for juice. But the poker sites expect something in return, otherwise it doesn't make sense for them to invest money for promotions.

Thanks for your attention and understanding.

The Pokerspace Team

I always find it amazing how fast opinions regarding the format can change, at first all loved the monthly leagues and damned the weekly direct qualifiers, now the same people don't have the time for the monthly format and want weekly games again. I guess that's variance ... lol.

I got to thinking about this and had a heck of a good idea. How about making the champ of each monthly event win a entry to the main crew cup events? or even a grand prize of entries into each event in the main crew cup. I think some crew would like to rack up a few entries at least into the main games since those can be rather expensive based on last season.

Alot of crews that might want to join in dont have the points. The members that are on point over load are the ones that dont usually play pokerspace point games anyways so its understandable they wouldnt like this. And then some of us just like to play once a week with our crew and work on our teamwork and if we win a little something great and if we dont we still had a good day playing as a team for a change and i dont see that as a waste of time.

I'm liking birds idea. Make them single games for 3000 points each. I think committing for a whole month is turning a lot of crews off. Go Sy.....ok I'll shutup.

Well I think it's clear that most of the crews are not interested in THIS format. I just hope PS listens.
