SNG Bankroll Builder-Step Method

I was thinking of trying a new strategy for building my bankroll on line using SNGs. Let me know what you think:

Start with 40 buy-ins at the $5 SNGs.

When I win a SNG I move up a level.

If I win a $5 SNG. I move onto a $10.

If I move to the $10. I play this level until I win(moving to the $20 SNG), cash( 2nd or 3rd stay at $10 level), or bust(move back down to the $5's). I always move down to the 40 buy-in level when I bust.

When I reach 40 buy-ins for $10 level SNGs, it becomes my new starting level.

I posted a similar thread on another forum, but have not had much of a response. I made some minor changes with this post. I lowered the min. amount of buy-ins and changed the starting level.

LOL...if you use this you'll go busto.

How about you deposit 50BI for a limit...play 1,000 S&Gs at that levle and if your ROI is better than 10% move up and if not dont move up and just improve and learn.

Well right now I am playing the $1.10 sngs and I am up $25 because I basically know what everyone is going to do since it is the same people over and over again. But sometimes one or two of them throw me a curveball while I am not paying attention. Anyways what I am saying is if you play at one limit and stay at it might be better because you will be able to take notes on them. Since you know that most of them will be in the next one you play so it might actually be easier to make more money than going to higher limits and losing. P.S. definately take jonny's advice he knows what he is talking about.

You do not want to try this since it is way to easy to diminish your bankroll. I would stay at a level where you have atleast 80 buy-ins IMO

I'm with Johnny on this one. If ya wanna go bust in a hurry, that's a good way to do it. If your ROI isn't over 10%, then you aren't making n e thing, and should really move DOWN. Not UP! 50 Buy in's is what i'm mworking at, and staying there untill I play atleast 800-1000 games at that level to see where I stand. If ya wanna do this, best of luck...just don't be the next one begging for money here when ya go broke.

i agree with pokerking, dont risk more than 5% of ur bankroll. if you have $100, play a $5 dollar sitngo, but if u bust out and go down to $95 dollars, move it down to $3 dollars, (these limits are based on pokerstars limits) u wont tilt much when u lose cuz ur not risking much. and ALWAYS TAKE NOTES. i cant tell u how much this will help when u run into the same players.

I set up a steps thing for myself on a site where I had a minimal bankroll. The way I set it up was that after the first step, I only moved up on profit. So if I played a $1.20... and took 2nd place ($2.70)... I could not move up to step 2 ($2.40) because I only had $1.50 in profit. And I would need to play step 1 again. This way, once I moved off of step 1, no matter what happened, the worst case scenario was that I was back to exactly where I started before I played the steps.

It takes a little longer to get started but you're not really risking "going busto" as some people have mentioned above. The only way I go busto is if I lose a whole bunch of step 1s in a row... and eventually blow the entire bankroll at that level. I don't see it happening.

I set it up to go from $1.20 - $22.00 sit and gos. But I got frustrated with it because you get so high... and then are back down to level 1 or 2 if you lose a game. I still have the spreadsheet I was using, if I ever go back to it. But I don't know. I am more of a cash game person than a sit and go one. And playing that many games for a $10 profit, at this moment, was just too irritating for me. It was too swingy.

But the real risk of going broke was basically the same as if I played only $1.20s... and it let me play higher and take a shot at building my bankroll.
