Poker etiquette, what is right what is wrong?

Last night at the pokerspce tournament I had the displeaure of playing with "chipaway". This player stalled on every hand and a few times stalled out. I am serious 99% of the hands they were given a warning to respond. A few times they completely let the timer run out. To be honest, my opinion is that it is rude and very childish to play in this manner. I am curious what other may have to say. Sadly, they ended chipping up and doing well in the tournament which will justify that type of play. Out of 600 individuals if seems like there is one goofball. What are your thoughts on this matter? Would you like to spend a hour or two waiting on someone to repsond to their hand? Other tables are playing several hands to your one. Table action is moving. LOL, in real life I can only imagine what would happen to this person. So, let me know your thoughts is it right or is it wrong. Be cool and yes to peace. A positive note "there are some very decent individuals on this site"

LOL I understand your frustration, but if I run into someone like that I tend to find the best way to ignore it is to open up another game alongside. Doesn't even have to be real money...just something to occupy the dead time between his actions to make it less of a distraction. ;o)

LOL..yes, thank goodness a real money MTT started about 30 minutes after this person sat at the table. Nonetheless they slowed down the table and the amount of hands we were all able to play. A side note LiLady. She said " I am a girl " LOL

Yes, it is very frustrating. But I have found that fussing about it in table chat more often than not just eggs the person on to continue behaving that way. So I just try to ignore that and play the best I kind.. And to not get impatient I ussually start another game as well.. Or something that can help eat up the down time without totally distracting me from the game. Sooner or later they ussually get out of their slow playing, get moved to another table, or go out, so I really try not to let it bother me. If you let it get to you at the tables, it could influence how you play, ussually to your own detriment, which just helps them even more. So though it is aggrevating, don't let him or her get into your head :)

You also need to remember that someone like that is only spending a minute or so a hand thinking. In a live game you have people who take a few minutes every hand, and are allowed to. Just be patient, that's what a lot of poker seems to be about.

Some people are just not as blessed in the brain cell department.

You never know when someone is playing 6 tables at once....

I have to say it can be very frustrating. Anyone that is constantly getting to the last second before makeing a fold or call or raise.. etc should re-evaluate whether they are playing to many other games at the same time... I can understand a hand or 2 here and there where you really wanna think about your decision but everyone is too much

Another thought is the person's connection speed...there are still people with dinosaur computers running on dial up...so even though your timer might say they've run out, to them their clock just started ticking, so they don't even know there is a difference, and can't really do anything about it. Granted this is not always the case, and most times it's just someone being an arse, but it can and does happen on occasion. :o)

While this is probally a person messing around, or waiting for other people to go bust on other tables it can still be because of connection speed, or playing 22 tables at once. The time bank is given for a reason, and it pains me to say however bad the etiqueete is, it isn't illegal. However I would preffer if players were there to play and not to abuse the time bank.

Howdy,

This type of play is indeed frustrating. But I think opening another table to play while you wait is about all you can do. Some players are slower, or not good at multi-tasking. My best friend is a bit of a "slow to act" player on line, but that's just his style. But I must add he rarely times out, he just likes to take his time.
