The Difference
So what are the differences between a U.S. and Europe tournament? The way I see it is that the differences are not too far off of what you would stereotypically think. The main difference is the behavior of the players.
Europe tends to be more reserved then the American tournaments. Particularly at the WSOP in the U.S. players, when they win big, go crazy and love to move and jump around.
The media and fan base is also different. In the America, everyone is there to cheer on their favorite player and to catch every moment of the games. This makes for a more exciting atmosphere.
In Europe I've noticed that the players are a lot tougher. Maybe all the silence there helps? Players that usually enter are already pretty good at what they do and have a lot of experience.
In the U.S., I've seen a lot of lower stakes internet qualifiers which makes an easy target to beat. Aside from this fact however, I would have to say that some of the best players on Earth come from the U.S. This probably has to do with the fact that generally there is more risk taking involved as its European counterpart.
Anyway you look at it though; poker is an exciting game no matter where you play it. No two games are the same.
