  • Clearing Cookies and Cache

I have been surprised how many people don't know how to clear their system of cookies or empty their cache. So here are two links that cover removing cookies and cleaning the cache. They are detailed with clear instructions to follow. You cannot damage your system doing these simple tasks. If you need any help, let me know ok.

  • LSO Cookies

LSO [Local Shared Object] have been around for a couple of years now. They allow a Super cookie to be placed on your hard drive that allows any site using Flash features to store and retrieve infomation from your system.

If you use Firefox, you get a tool/add on called Better Privacy that deals with these cookies and all other cookies. You can get this add on @

If you use a different browser, there is also action that you can take to prevent these cookies being left on your system. Just use this link and follow the instructions/links within.

I shall look for other solutions for other browsers and if I find any I shall add those links as well.

  • Things to do ONCE EVERY WEEK!!!!!

Every week, at some time your not busy on your computer [lazin on a Saturday afternoon watching a movie-perfect time for this] please do the following routinly:

Empty your trash bin, remove all internet temp files [cookies can be saved if you wish, I save mine, minus the ones the mal-ware programs pick up], and delete any temp folder files.

Update your virus scanner, do a FULL SYSTEM scan, follow recommendations of scan and reboot

Update your mal-ware, trojans programs [Spy-bot, Ad-Aware, etc.], do a FULL SYSTEM scan, follow recommendations, reboot, then follow the cycle for the next program. NOTE: Do NOT run two or more of these type of programs at the same time. One program will think the other one is a trojan. Pick one program, update it, scan, fix, THEN start the cycle with #2 or #3. You are much safer if you have 2 or more of these programs because of the different engine types, each picks up things others don't, therefore you cover you bases more.

Once a month run a Check Disk on all your hard drives and once all hard drives are complete, defragment them. Once the defrag is complete, reboot the computer.

Vista Total Security has taken over my laptop. My Norton was expired. I have since downloaded free Kaspersky, updated it and scanned twice. It found 2 trojans, but Vista total security continues to pop up. To browse IE, I have to disable add ons. HELP, going crazy.

BTW congrats to you and Sonya. All the best to you both.

on your browser, click on View, on the menu bar, try using the Zoom selection, using the Out or Down or "-", depending on how its worded in your browser. in FF, it would be View, Zoom, Zoom Out. try that and let me know;)~
