JJ is a tricky hand, but all I will say is POSITION, POSITION, POSITION!
Don't get me wrong there are times when all-in with JJ is the best move. The problem is you raised out of position with a hand vulnarable to over cards. You have no idea how many people were going to call you and so you were playing russian roulette.
Out of position as you were, the only valid way to play this in my mind would be to call, and try and see the flop as cheaply as possible, as soon as you see 2 over cards then fold, if there is only one then consider folding unless there is only one other in the pot with you. If you called this then at least you would have the chance to get off the hand.
