Description:

A trivial hand to most people and on the surface it is.
Hero is BB with KcJs. Its folded to the SB who raises to .30. Its possible to 3bet here, but I decide to check. The flop is a nothing flop and we both check. That was a surprise, I was expecting a cbet here. SB bets the turn and again I just call. The river gives me the nut straight, but the SB bets out again. Where do we go from here? If I raise, how much? Or should I shove? Maybe just call again?
I found this a very good hand to contemplate as there are various routes we can take, all of which have merit. I would just enjoy reading how you would play it from start to finish and why. If you can put villain to a range, what would it be?
What would you do in villains shoes and why?

I think you have missed some value by not betting the flop, the villian is probably not going to fold to one bet and if he had check raised you, you could of floated the flop. Once the open ender comes with an over card I am not folding this hand so I would of re-raised the turn looking to play for stacks if not on the turn by the river.
The Nutz do not come along often enough to miss out on value when they do.

Who would play those sort of games? not me that's for sure .I never played those stupid rush poker games on tilt and these sound like an even worse idea ,why would you bother is beyond me .Hand was played as well under those circs ,Think I'd ve taken it on flop as check from original raiser was screaming out weakness but could ve been a trap so erring on side of caution worked out well .ps think this player was bad enough to call the shove but was still the right bet and would be happy to take a tidy pot here

It sucks that it was an annonymous. Don't really understand the merit of that myself???

A good player at any level will vary his raising hands, thus balancing his range for deception.

The hand was played on Bovada, all annonymous tables, so very little info to go on. A poker buddy and myself have looked at the hand from a few different angles with different thoughts and theoretical plays and found we could chew this one over and multiple lines seemed to work in some way/shape/form. The open raise from the SB can mean many things in the micros, from air steal to AA. Its interesting how differing player styles play the hand out.
The hand was played by someone else who didn't think there was much merit in posting the hand but was happy to allow me to post it.
Thanks for the thoughts and feedback, its all informative and all adds something to be considered.

      Pre-flop:

It depends on what information you have on your opponent here. However, generally speaking I think the call is the worst of the 3 options. I would either 3-bet pre, or if I'm multi-tabling, just toss it. You have position, but only a mediocre hand, I don't really like a call here. I would only call here if I had good notes/stats on the villan and his hand ranges and post flop stats, knowing I could outplay him post flop on a dry board, but you only check the flop, so it seems you called with the intention of connecting. When KJo connects with a flop, there is always a good chance you could be outkicked and if the flop comes K high, this approach could end up leaving you not knowing where you are and costing you money.

Having said that, I like the way you played the rest of the hand and a nice value bet on the river.

$2.40- Just the right amount to keep villain in there with that board. ;) Exactly what I would've done.

I voted for a raise before I read any of the comments. A shove there could have scred off your opponent knowing he was probably out flopped. By raising you enticed the call which is what you wanted and with him flopping top two pair gave him good odds to call.
I think a larger bet on the turn say a pot size bet from him would have perhaps ended the hand there and then, but he gave you the pot odds tgo call with a possible open ended straight.
      Lucky but nice river Justin.

I think your opponent here could have been a little more stronger. I agree he should have cbet here on the flop and given you the dilema to fold, well easy fold for you! no need to hang about....lol. But his weakness let's you off.

The turn i feel is his downfall, you shouldnt be folding from hereon. He hit's his Q you have a nice open ender, I might have even been tempted to re-raise his .30 bet here and try and apply a little pressure, maybe 3bet see what he does. He fold, you get a little pot cheaply, he calls, you built a nice little pot.

The river, just hammers home the final nail in his coffin another half pot bet from him and a very nice re-raise to entice a call, but maybe if he thought about it, he may have sensed he was beat and folded.

Either way, very nice hand Justin and well played.
