*Text		<p>Yeah, I am bad at these, but I get bored and I love to ramble. So, let's talk about raising ranges and the best way to determine an opponent's range and how to properly use it.</p><p>If you see a guy raising 80% of the time, is it time to start factoring out the top of his range? No. Is it time to start widening his range? Yes. A lot of players will say, "Well because he's so aggressive & raising so much, he DOESN'T have AA," which is something you don't want to do. You want to increase his range, not take things out of it.</p><p><strong>How to Apply an Opponents Raise Range to Your Hand</strong></p><p>OK, with that thought out of the way, how do you apply this range with your hand? OK, so let's say you have A6s on the button. He raises 3x (which is what he has raised to every time pre) & you decide his range is: AA-33 AK-A2o AKs-A2s KQo-KTo KQs-K5s, let's just stop there & say that's the top of his range. So if you raise & he shoves, does that make the top of his range obsolete? No, it just means the top of his range is a SLIM part of his range. So was it a bad spot to raise because he showed up with the top part of his range? No. That's like saying shoving KT vs a super-nit is a good idea because he showed up with 99 one time & you hit.</p><p><strong>Applying Your Raise Range Strategy</strong></p><p>So what do you do with a raising range once it has been determined? You take what you think/confer is their raising range and put that range vs. your hand. If that hand is going to out-flop or you're going to out-play his range, then you're creating good plays and good spots for yourself. Depending on your opponent, your ranges should be based upon their ranges. So if a guy is only raising AA, do you call with QQ? *Text		<p>The world of freeroll online poker is akin to walking through a mine field with a ten-foot wooden pole. You might have the tools to avoid losing your life, but it's still a mine field you're walking through. You might want to be cautious and possibly win, but those other players in the game (i.e. the mines) have nothing to lose, so many risk everything. This is where a plan of attack in a PokerStars freeroll becomes very important.</p><p><strong>What Strategy to Use in a Freeroll</strong></p><p>PokerStars is far and away the largest online poker room in the world which means any and all freerolls attract hundreds and even thousands of players all vying for some free cash. Players have nothing to risk in a freeroll except for their time, which means most people will go all-in on the first couple of hands to double up and start out in a bullying position as the table chip leader. The best tactic isn't to play completely cautious. Play tight, but only be willing to bet aggressively with only the best hole cards, especially if the player field is enormous, and even then your opponents are usually willing to gamble with very weak cards early on and bad beat you.</p><p>Playing cautious is a good way to possibly get into the money in a tournament, and even in a freeroll, but if just getting into the money means winning $0.50 then spending 3 hours of hard and cautious play isn't necessarily worth it. When beginning a freeroll that attracts hundreds of other players choose your time to strike very strategically. Wait a few hands to see what your table is going to be like. If there are three or four players going all-in constantly stay back and wait for the action to subside slightly to start to build a table presence.</p><p>The key to a freeroll is to increase your chip count in the beginning stages of the tournament, without putting all of your chips in the pot while holding weak cards. As the all-in action dies down continue to play tight but aggressively to build a chip stack, especially as the tables start to be switched around. By then you should be nearing the second hour of the freeroll. Play tight from this point on. Your goal is to cash and cash high.</p><p><strong>How to Battle Back in a Freeroll</strong></p><p>If you find that you're short stacked even with tight-aggressive play in the opening stages of the freeroll and passive play from there on, you are short staked you need to act on premium hands. Play hands like TT-AA. Be sure to push all-in before the flop is shown, otherwise those limping in might catch a better flop and you find yourself out of the tournament or at best left with only a few chips. It isn't good to assume that the person calling an all-in at this stage in the freeroll is just playing any two cards. They want to win too.</p><p><strong>Final Stages of the Freeroll</strong></p><p>As time goes by and the player field becomes smaller, most of your opponents—even the ones who were going all-in at the beginning stages of the freeroll—will start to play tighter as everyone has already invested a lot of time in cashing in the freeroll. Towards the end of the freeroll begin playing "raise or fold" tactics that will help get you into the money by playing more aggressively towards players who are just trying to squeak into the money.</p><p>If at the final table you find yourself short stacked you have 2 plays: fold or all-in. It's really as simple as that. If you're in a decent stack position you can play a lot of hands or fold anything but premium hands and maximize value. If you become the big stack at the table, challenge the short stacks for all their chips with any good hand. Once players start to be eliminated be sure to raise and re-raise with good cards. Never limp in unless you find yourself in middle position of the table. The final table might be extremely difficult to get to, but good play there can result in excellent payday that cost nothing to get to except your time.</p><p>For players looking for the best freeroll tournaments out there, Pokerspace is full of them. *Text		<p>Most people envision stock brokers as slick haired, money hungry, eaters of the weak. Gordon Gecko from the movie Wall Street has helped solidify this imagry, but now there is a new archetype for stock brokers: poker players. Trading firms all across the U.S. and even in Canada are actively recruiting men and women who have skilled experience with poker. </p><p><strong>Why Wall Street is Search for Poker Players</strong></p><p>The obvious question most people will ask is what does poker have to do with trading stocks? On the outside there's nothing directly connecting one to the other except for the fact trading on the stock market is just another example of high stakes gambling. In poker, players rely on statistical analysis, past experience, gut feelings, and a little luck to win; and the trading stocks is simply the second cousin to poker.</p><p>It was reported in the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/16/business/la-fi-poker-traders-20100516"><em>LA Times</em></a> in May 2010 that the upstart trading firm Toro Trading was making poker knowledge integral to their interview process. This article explained that one job candidate, Chris Fargis, had no formal finance training, but he knew poker after playing it full time online for years. Chris was offered the job at Toro. The parallels between poker and stock brokering are numerous, especially with the new bred of trading companies like Toro Trading that focuses on split second trades over several different markets at once to create fractional gains from buying and selling ahead of their competitors. This is very similar to how an online poker pro will play on up to 10 tables at once, making split second decisions and on multiple levels to cut down on variance and increase profits. </p><p>This split second decision making is a major skill gained from playing online poker where decisions must be made in seconds, not minutes and over multiple tables at once. Not to mention the constant odds calculations that are required to play good poker. </p><p><strong>What Trading Firms are Looking for in Poker Players</strong></p><p>These new trading firms almost require their employees to be interested in poker. Some of the top Wall Street firms are even making poker an important part of their overall training programs. The goal is not to create world-class poker players, but teach stock brokers how to be good decision makers without having all of the needed information. This is poker in a nutshell.</p><p>Poker is a game of decisions based on having a sampling of the overall information. The ability to cut a loss in a risky situation by calculating odds, have a skilled memory, and have the ability to make quick decisions under enormous pressure. After the World Series of Poker last year a major hedge-fund manager requested online poker players with no financial experience to fill vacant trading spots. *Text		<p>Well after reading the second part of the title of this blog, your probably asking yourself, "How in the world can tilting be useful?" Well keep in mind I said, "tilting." I'll explain what I mean later in the blog. Personally I believe tilting is an emotion/action that makes us say and/or do things beyond our typical poker means, which leads me into my first discussion in this blog, which will be the reasons why I believe most people tilt and what you can do to prevent this from happening.</p><p><strong>When and Why People Start to Tilt<br /></strong><br /> One of the most common, and I would say most agreed upon ways is when a player takes a bad beat. What triggers this emotion is the fact that you know you had the best hand, you believe you played it to the best of your ability, (in most cases) and yet there was nothing you could do to save yourself from losing the hand. So as a result, that negative emotion stays in your mind for the next hand and/or several hands. It is a very difficult emotion to control and I believe even the most experienced pros tilt from time to time.<br /><br /> Another reason why a person may tilt is if they haven't played a hand over a long period of time because they just aren't getting hands worth playing. The reason a person may tilt as a result of this is due to the lack of patience a person may have and/or the eagerness of wanting to win a big pot.<br /><br /> Judging from the talent and overall poker knowledge here at Pokerspace I'm sure most of you are aware of those two reasons to tilt, and I'm sure you are also aware that there are still countless reasons as to why people tilt. Now that I have covered a few reasons why people tilt, I would like to share with you my thoughts on possible solutions to solve this problem.</p><p><strong>How to Stop From Tilting at the Poker Table</strong></p><ul><li>Sit out, step away from the computer for a few minutes, take a few deep breaths, and grab a beverage of your choice.</li> <li>If you're a smoker, go take a few drags, take a few deep breaths, and come back.</li> <li>Try to remember that just because you take a bad beat, and even if you lose a good portion of your chip stack, you still have chips and still have a chance at winning the particular tournament you are playing in.</li> <li>Do not bring a negative vibe to the table when feeling this emotion. I have noticed when you do that, a lot of players(especially players that don't know who you are) will try to further that negative vibe to throw you off your game and to better their chip stack, position in tourney, etc.</li> </ul><p>These were just a few suggestions for you to think about. Everyone has their own particular way of handling the situation and you must decide what works better for you.</p><p><strong>How Tilting Can Be Useful</strong><br /><br /> The second mind boggling topic I would like to get your blood flowing with is how can "tilting" be useful? Earlier in this blog, I promise you I would explain what I meant, so here we go. Are you ready folks? Tilting can be used to a player's advantage and I am sure some of you have done this at one point or another. First off, what are some of the things we see when a player is tilting? Possible cursing, quick/overly aggressive decisions/plays, and the one of the most common observations I have made is people pushing all-in immediately after taking a bad beat, or for another one of the tilting reasons I mentioned earlier.</p><p>So, the point I am trying to make, you can use those actions you see when people tilt as a way of convincing people you really are tilting, when in reality you are not. For example, I tried this out a few months ago in a PS tourney on UB. I had just lost a hand for about half of my chips, maybe 2/3, and the next hand I was dealt KK in early position. Before I made any move, I said and I quote "**** this I'm done goodluck all." I ended up having a two callers, one with QJd and another with 77. I won the hand and tripled my stack.<br /><br /> The last point I want to make, and most important, is that you always have to remember that there is always a way to turn a potentially bad situation into a good one, whether it be in Poker or life in general. That is a very important thing to remember and if you can have that attitude towards Poker and life, you will increase your odds of being successful a great deal.</p>

The game itself will be played like every other CrewCup event with up to 6 players per team (min. of 3 required) and every crew member of the best team will win a PSOC prize depending on the number of participating crew - besides that, there are at least 4 Crews required for the event to kick off. </span><span>All normal CrewCup rules apply for this <strong>PSOC Crew Battle on Carbon</strong>, but keep in mind that team play is strictly forbidden in the PSOC events. </span></p><p><strong><span>How does the scoring system work?</span></strong><span><br /> The rank of the top three finishers in each crew will be added up.
